Simon Pyke

Engine for Optimism

Wandering with open ears between the soundscapes of local nature through imaginary worlds, via a lense of obscured or imagined genres. Machines, so often viewed as a negative force, represent a constant sense of optimism is Simon Pyke’s musical vision, emotions via technology; a concept as old as the wheel itself. Taking cues as much from DIY African music as the cyclic melodies of classic minimalists (“A Wander into the Unknown”), forward driven band free jam with a barbershop quartet of one (“Post Apocalyptic”) or a duet for a pigeon and a mumbling man (“I Like Pigeons”), you can rest assured of an unexpected journey.
